Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards entered COVID-19 protocols and will miss Friday night's game against the visiting Los Angeles Lakers.
It will mark the first time the second-year wing has missed a game in his NBA career. He has played in all 100 contests (83 starts) since Minnesota selected him No. 1 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Edwards, 20, is averaging 22.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals through 28 starts this season.
ESPN reported Friday that forward Taurean Prince also entered the protocol. The 27-year-old is averaging 4.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 24 games (eight starts) this season.
