The Dallas Mavericks icon Dirk Nowitzki believes that Luka Doncic is the unique basketball talent who has the highest NBA ceilings at this time.
"For me, Luka is the guy that's on the top of the list because he's only 22-years-old," Nowitzki said on a call with reporters when asked which young player had the most potential, per Reuters.
"He still has so much upside and stuff to learn. His creativity, the way he reads the game, the way he spreads the ball, the way he can score, really, from the post all the way out to the half court, there are no holes in his game. That, at 22, is unbelievable," the German basketball legend added.
He also spoke about increasing international players' roles, while global athletes start to dominate in the strongest basketball league. Nowitzki picked out two-time MVP and NBA champion Giannis Antetokounmpo and reigning league MVP Nikola Jokic.
"It's been incredible to watch (them)," he said. "When I first got in the league, I think every team had maybe one international guy, and now it's numerous guys."
Dirk Nowitzki himself is arguably the best international player of NBA history. He will have his No. 41 jersey retired when Dallas hosts the Golden State Warriors on January 5.
Nowitzki was a 14-time All-Star during 21 seasons with Dallas. He also led the franchise to its lone NBA title in 2011.
Dirk ranks sixth in NBA history with 31,560 career points. He was league MVP for the 2006-07 season and played for Dallas from 1998-2019.
