Jones, 24, started and played 28 minutes in Wednesday night's 115-92 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, finishing with 11 points and two rebounds.

He is averaging 7.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 22 games (two starts) in his first season with the Bulls. He owns career averages of 6.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 251 games (91 starts) with the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers and Bulls.

The Bulls' next game is Saturday night at Miami.

The NBA permits teams in this position to apply for a hardship exception, which includes the clearance to sign a player to the active roster. Chicago used the slot Wednesday to add forward Stanley Johnson to the roster.
