Indiana Pacers guard T.J. McConnell is expected to miss several months following surgery to repair torn ligaments in his right hand, ESPN reported Tuesday.
He was inactive for the last two games and has not played since leaving a Dec. 1 loss to the Atlanta Hawks after only three minutes.
The 29-year-old is averaging 8.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 24 games (six starts) on the season.
Pacers coach Rick Carlisle acknowledged last week that McConnell would miss "weeks, not days" but did not give details on the nature of the injury.
McConnell is in his third season with the Pacers after spending his first four seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. He has career averages of 6.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 478 career games (84 starts).
