"Huge Sadness for the loss of Stevan Jelovac," FC Barcelona superstar Nikola Mirotic noted. "My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends."

"News like this makes this game of basketball we play so small when you think of what really matters," Panathinaikos OPAP Athens player Kendrick Perry reacted. "I hope you rest peacefully! My thoughts go out to your family, friends, teammates, and loved ones!"

Not only current players but former players as well were shocked to hear the tragic news as Bostjan Nachbar, Jaka Lakovic, and Hidayet Turkoglu expressed their grief in their tweets.

A number of teams and federations released their statements expressing their condolences to the player's family and relatives.

Jelovac felt unwell during AEK's training session on November 14 and was transferred to the hospital.

The 32-year-old Serbian forward had strong malaise and fainting tendencies during his team's training session, where he suffered a stroke from which he never recovered.
