Newly elected Greek basketball federation president Vangelis Liolios arrived in Moscow and met CSKA Moscow president Andrey Vatutin, regarding Dimitris Itoudis and the Greek national team head coach position, via SDNA.gr.
According to the Greek media outlet, Liolios was optimistic about the possibility that Dimitris Itoudis will take over the national team.
"I had an invitation from Mr. Vatutin who contacted us. We had a meeting, which took place in a great atmosphere. He is a very nice personality, who made a positive impression on me and we exchanged views on many issues.
We also talked about the issue of Dimitris Itoudis. After all, that was the main concern. CSKA have fully understood our plan and vice versa. There is no white smoke, but we are in good communication, the future will show how well things will develop.
Mr. Vatutin is a leading figure, I am very happy that this meeting took place. Only good things can come out of these discussions," Liolios said.
Greek basketball federation president also added that he had the opportunity to present his plan for the possibility of working with the most successful Greek coach in Europe, fully respecting the fact that CSKA extended his contract last year, per Gazzetta.gr.
Vangelis Liolios told Gazzetta.gr. that he did not travel to Moscow to get a final answer but essentially to "build a bridge" of communication and a cooperation relationship.
