An unsuccessful start of the year at Panathinaikos OPAP Athens marks new beginnings for Yogi Ferrell. The American guard has joined Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana for the remainder of the season.
The 28-year-old started the 2021-2022 campaign on the Greek side, where he faced a tough rotation and consequently couldn't get his game going.
The European basketball powerhouse eventually decided to part ways with the guard, leaving him open to the market.
After reports about other clubs looking at the possibility of signing the energetic player, Ferrell decided to join the Cedevita Olimpija side.
The club's sports director and former professional player Sani Becirovic was pleased with the signing.
"We are extremely pleased that Ferrell has decided to join Cedevita Olympija as he has had many suitors from clubs playing at the highest European level," Becirovic noted. "We believe that with his way of playing, he will be able to join the team, raise our game to a higher level, and help us achieve our goals."
The head coach of the team, Jurica Golemac, was happy with the signing as well.
"We are happy that Yogi Ferrell signed a contract with us. We have been looking for a game organizer for a long time. There are very few options on the market, and Yogi immediately caught our eye."
"He will definitely need time to get to know the team. He is a winner by nature, likes to play defense, and likes to win," the coach added. The 44-year-old specialist was certain that Ferrell would fit in well with the team: "I'm sure it will take a lot less time to adjust than some might think."
Ferrell has played a total of 5 games in the EuroLeague where he averaged 1.6 points, 1 rebound, and 1.8 assists per game.
