Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, two of European basketball's main pillars and traditional powerhouses,  keep losing millions of euros every year.

According to estimates, the two giants have lost 204 million euros over the last 4 years.

As reported by encestando.es, Real Madrid will close the fiscal year 2021 with a deficit of 25,900,000 euros, while FC Barcelona will lose another 27,450,000.

Citing information from Spain, the article states that Real closed the 2018-19 season with a deficit of 26,470,000 euros, which were reduced to 26,300,000 in 2019-20 and even more, to 18,900,000 last year (2020).

As for Barcelona,  ​​the gap between income and expenses is growing bigger every year. The Catalan basketball section closed the 2018-19 season with a deficit of 22,300,000 euros, the next year, it was increased to 28,200,000, while last year it skyrocketed to 28,800,000!

Overall, the two clubs have had losses of 204,320,000 euros in the last four years.

In terms of players' salaries, this season FC Barcelona are expected to pay 34,850,000 euros and receive 14 million from sponsors, season and single tickets, competitions, commercials, and television rights.

On the other end, Real Madrid will spend 33 million on players' salaries and is projected to cash in 15,2 million. Almost half of it (7.3 million) comes from sponsorship deals.
