Jonathan Amey Jr, a 26-year-old security guard for the Golden State Warriors, received the opportunity of a lifetime last month when the Warriors offered him a tryout with their G League team.
A very popular figure inside the organization, Amey Jr received several suggestions from Steph Curry before the tryout.
"He’s a constant figure when you’re coming out of the building", said Curry about Amey Jr. "It speaks about how encouraging, motivating, and unifying basketball is for him to go put himself out there, go out for a tryout".
Despite the fact that Amey didn't make the final roster, he was grateful for the opportunity that the organization gave it to him: "It was just a great experience to be able to play at a pro-level", Amey said.
"I didn’t think I was going to get an opportunity so I just felt like, ‘Hey, if the offer’s there just go for it", he finished.
