The last EuroLeague team is upgrading the roster. After signing Slovenian swingman Zoran Dragic, Zalgiris Kaunas are close to landing Tai Webster, sources say BasketNews.

A 26-year-old combo guard was supposed to play in Australia this season. But Webster gave up a two-year contract with New Zealand Breakers as he refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

It was needed for travel reasons since those who didn't get vaccinated wouldn't be able to travel between states and countries. That means unvaccinated NBL players wouldn't be able to participate in some of the NBL games.

Last season Webster was one of the leading Breakers players. He averaged 17.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 29 NBL games.

Webster is well aware of European basketball, as he is a former Skyliners Frankfurt and Galatasaray Istanbul player. In the 2019-20 EuroCup campaign with the Turkish club, he registered 10.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

Zalgiris are still on the market. Per BasketNews sources, Lithuanian champions are looking for an upgrade in their frontline.
