Zalgiris Kaunas forward Tyler Cavanaugh will be forced to miss the team’s Round 6 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague matchup against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, as his COVID-19 test upon arrival at Tel Aviv airport came back positive.

EuroLeague’s health and safety protocols do not require vaccinated game participants to undergo testing, while players and staff are required to isolate only when they are feeling CCOVID-19 symptoms.

Nevertheless, PCR tests before departure from Lithuania were performed due to Israeli government requirements. Tests taken on Sunday came back negative for all travelling team members.

After the test taken in the Ben Gurion airport upon arrival returned a positive test result, Cavanaugh had two rapid antigen tests performed, both of them coming back negative.

Despite having a negative PCR test before leaving Lithuania, and 2 negative antigen rapid tests performed after his positive test, Zalgiris was informed that per local regulations, Cavanaugh was not allowed to leave his hotel room until another PCR came back negative.

Tyler is feeling good, does not showcase any symptoms of the virus, and all the other tests performed in recent days came back negative.
