Free-agent Ishmail Wainright officially signed a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns.
On August 7, Wainright signed a two-year non-guaranteed deal with the Toronto Raptors. However, he was waived by the Canadian club on October 17.
Wainright had a breakout season with SIG Strasbourg last year. The 26-year-old averaged 9.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 12.8 PIR over 26.5 minutes in the Basketball Champions League.
The 1.96-meter American/Ugandan accumulated 11.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals, and 13.8 PIR over 27.9 minutes in the French LNB Pro A League.
This summer Ishmail Wainright participated in the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 and posted 12.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 2 steals, and 18.8 PIR per 5 matches. Uganda suffered a defeat against Cape Verde in the quarter-finals stage.
