Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Australian forward Ben Simmons has arrived in Philadelphia and reported to the team just before the game that the Sixers played against the Nets last night.
According to Wojnarowski, the Sixers were unaware that Simmons was arriving in the city, and they just realized his presence when he showed up at the arena to take his Covid test.
The Sixers, in fact, were in conversation with Simmons' agent Rich Paul but had no direct contact with the player, so they remained surprised when the player arrived at the arena unannounced.
After staying away from the team for two weeks, Simmons will now be in a difficult position, as he requested a trade but so far has been unsuccessful in his attempts to leave the team.
Sixers' superstar Joel Embiid said that, while the situation might require some adjustments, Simmons will be welcomed back to the team.
"It doesn't need to be awkward, we're all professionals. We want to win. He gives me the best chance to win so that's what I'm gonna go with".
