The Phoenix Suns cruised past the Los Angeles Lakers, 123-94 (28-18, 23-26, 37-20, 35-30), at the Staples Center. The Suns improve to 2-1 in the preseason, while the Lakers fall to 0-4.

Chris Paul led the Suns with 15 points, three rebounds, and five assists in the victory, while Landry Shamet added 13 and Javale McGee, Jalen Smith chipped in 12 points apiece.

The third period and a partial score of 37-20 made the difference for the 2021 runners-up, who went 31 percent from distance (9/29).

Anthony Davis (19 points, six assists) and Carmelo Anthony (17 points, 5/7 3pt FG) combined for 36 points for the Lakers in the losing effort.

For the Suns, Devin Booker and Dario Saric didn't play for different reasons. Trevor Ariza, Talen Horton-Tucker, LeBron James, and Malik Monk were the absentees from the LA squad.
