The team coached by Ettore Messina looked to have a comfortable lead at the beginning of the second half, but after that, Varese had a 13-0 run that brought the game back to square.
After the game, Coach Messina said that he was very happy about the win because this was a very hard game for his team.
"I'm very happy, everything was in place to be a very difficult game. Our most experienced players were crucial in the key moments of the game", explained Messina.
Milan's head coach also talked about the minutes played by Shavon Shields, who remained on the court for 25 minutes.
"Turnover? I don't do experiments with the risk of losing games. First of all, we have to think about winning, then we'll think about fatigue. There are no other philosophies," Messina said.
