"Ben is a Hall of Famer and a Pistons legend who has continued to come back home and support our team and our organization," team owner Tom Gores said.

A September Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Wallace played 1,088 career NBA games over 16 seasons with Washington, Orlando, Detroit, Chicago, and Cleveland.

He is an undrafted NBA athlete and four-time NBA All-Star.

Ben Wallace forged a career that leaves him as one of the most dominant defensive big men of all time. In his resume, Wallace has 4 NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards. The 47-year-old also was NBA blocks leader in 2002 and five times entered NBA All-Defensive First Team.

"No was not an option. I kept marching. I kept fighting, I kept winning, I kept succeeding. Be strong, be motivated, stand tall," said Wallace in his Hall of Fame enshrinement speech.
