The New Orleans Pelicans handled the Orlando Magic 104-86 (18-26, 34-25, 20-17, 32-18) to secure the first win in the NBA preseason.

The duel was marked with Jonas Valanciunas' ejection from the game. At the start of the third quarter, the Lithuanian center earned the first technical foul when he disagreed with the referee’s whistle.

The second technical arrived not so much later. JV clashed with the opponent in the middle of the third period and was penalized with a personal foul. After the call, he waived aside and was sent away from the court.

Valanciunas managed to stay on the floor for 20 minutes and scored 13 points (4/11 2PT, 1/2 3PT, 2/2 FT), grabbed 9 rebounds, and blocked 2 shots.

Trey Murphy III was a top scorer for the Pelicans. He accumulated 20 points (6/9 3PT) and 6 rebounds.

Pelicans played without their main stars, Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.

Wendell Carter Jr. was the most efficient athlete for Magic. He posted a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 boards.
