Lenovo Tenerife (1-0) won a nail-biting thriller against BC Prometey (0-1) 73-70 (18-19, 14-24, 26-4, 15-23) in the Basketball Champions League opener.

The fourth quarter was as close as it could get. Prometey struck back with a 9-0 run at the start of the decisive quarter (56-58). They even retook the lead with 1:16 left to play (68-66).

Nevertheless, Tenerife scored 4 points in one attack and was in front by 2 (70-68). Prometey's Chris Dowe tied the match at 70 with 19 seconds on the clock. The last attack belonged to Tenerife, and Aaron Doornekamp hit the three-point dagger.

Sasu Salin put on a show for Tenerife. The Finn posted 33 points (3/3 2PT, 8/13 3PT, 3/4 FT), 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 36 EFF.

The first half was all about Prometey. At one point, their advantage reached the apex of 14 points (40-26). However, the view on the court changed in the third quarter, as Tenerife outscored Prometey by 22 points, leaving the Ukrainian club only with 4 points per 10 minutes.

Bruno Fitipaldo added 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.

For Prometey, D'Angelo Harrison accumulated 22 points (3/5 2PT, 3/7 3PT, 7/8 FT), 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 20 EFF.
