After suffering a significant spike in Covid cases nationwide, Russia has taken action to limit mass gatherings.

On Monday, it was officially announced that mass events, except for sports, are being canceled, reports.

Moreover, in live sporting events, including basketball, fans will not be permitted to enter arenas.

On October 3, over 25 thousand new Covid cases were reported in Russia. The average number of daily cases over the past seven days is 23 thousand.

Three Russian teams compete in this season's Turkish Airlines EuroLeague: CSKA Moscow, Zenit St. Petersburg, and UNICS Kazan.

Before the new mandate, 1 000 fans were allowed in CSKA's home matches, 500 fans in Zenit's games, and 5 250 fans in UNICS' EuroLeague games.

The country also has one team in each the 7DAYS EuroCup and Basketball Champions League: Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar and Nizhny Novgorod.
