Chorale Roanne was a tough opponent for AS Monaco at the French LNB opening game, but eventually, Zvezdan Mitrovic's team prevailed by 75-80 (17-25, 23-21, 19-14, 16-20), in front of 4,200 spectators.

The EuroLeague squad played without Diallo, James and Motiejunas, but the players left at the Montenegrin's coach disposal were enough to bring home their first domestic win in the season. Rob Gray starred for the 2021 EuroCup winners with 21 points, while Danilo Andjusic added 11.

Roanne were up by one (60-59) going into the fourth quarter, when Ouattara and Lee came to Gray's help and saved the day for the Roca team.

24-year-old, 1,73-meter-tall Loren Jackson got a double-double (15 points, 10 assists) for the hosts, who struggled immensely (6/27) behind the three-point line. Johnny Berhanemeskel scored another 15 points but his productivity didn't change his team's fate.

Monaco had 17 turnovers for 16 assists while going 5 of 21 from deep.

AS Monaco: Gray 21, Andjusic 11, Ouattara 9
