The 24-year-old suffered a setback during his participation with the Spanish national team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Lopez-Arostegui has not been able to join the Valencian team's pre-season. Due to the operation, the 2.00-meter forward missed the start of the Liga ACB.

Xabi Lopez-Arostegui joined Valencia forces this summer, on July 5, signing a four-year deal.

The Spaniard arrived from Joventut Badalona, where he averaged 12.3 points (40% 3PT) and 4.9 rebounds in 16 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. In the Liga ACB, he posted 13.1 points and 5 rebounds per 25 contests.

In the Tokyo Olympics, Xabi played only one game (3 minutes) and grabbed one rebound. The small forward has not played an official game since the end of July.

The day before yesterday, Valencia received unpleasant news about Mike Tobey's situation. The Slovenian center will miss three weeks of basketball.

The oranges will start their EuroCup campaign on October 19 against Promitheas Patras.
