After three and a half years with Real Madrid, Gabriel Deck had to settle for a more diminished role at the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Argentine forward signed a multi-year contract with the NBA franchise last April, and in his rookie year, he played 10 games, averaging 8.4 points on 13.3% three-point shooting, 4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 21 minutes.
Earlier offseason reports mentioned that the 26-year-old was considering a return to Europe. However, Deck had no such intention.
“The rumors are not true. My plan was always to stay with the Thunder “, he said during the media day.
“The truth is that I was very happy. I arrived at the last stage, and I’m happy with my teammates, the team, and the work done. I hope to keep working and keep improving”, Deck added.
Asked about his adjustment process in the NBA, he uttered that he didn’t face any difficulties.
“I believe that is because of my teammates and the entire team, who received me in the best way and immediately inserted me into the group, the trust is due to them, and I am very grateful,” he commented.
Last year, the Thunder finished second-to-last in the Western Conference on a 22-50 record.
