During today's meeting of the Federal council of the Italian basketball federation, Gianni Petrucci, the president of the federation, officially announced that coach Meo Sacchetti has been confirmed as head coach of the Italian national team until the end of Eurobasket 2022. Along with Sacchetti, his coaching staff has also been confirmed until the end of EUrobasket 2022 with assistant coaches Lele Molin, Piero Bucchi, and Paolo Galbiati.

Sacchetti has been the head coach of the Italian national team since 2017. He recently led them to the victory of the Qualifying Tournament to the Olympics and then to the quarter-finals of the Olympic tournament. 

Now coach Sacchetti will lead the team in the first windows to qualify for the 2023 FIBA World Cup and at Eurobasket 2022 of next summer. Italy will host one of the groups of Eurobasket in Milan, while the final phase of the tournament will be played in Berlin. 

Sacchetti's previous deal was until the end of the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
