The legendary Luis Scola begins a new chapter in his life.

Pallacanestro Varese announced that a 41-years-old Argentinian became the club’s new chief executive officer.

“It is with pride that Varese Basketball announces a new entry into the Board of Directors: this is Luis Scola, who will hold the role of CEO of the red and white club. This addition embellishes and further consolidates the management fabric of the company and has the aim of making its operational strategies for the near future more and more solid,” says the press release of the Italian club.

Varese was the last team in Scola’s professional basketball career. The Argentinian will be officially presented on Wednesday.

Throughout his career, Scola became the Spanish League winner (2002), three times Spanish Cup (2002, 2004, 2006), and three times Spanish Supercup winner (2005, 2006, 2007). He was also named Spanish League MVP twice (2005, 2007).

With his country, Scola won the gold medal in Athens Olympic Games in 2004 and a bronze medal in Beijing in 2008.

He also has two silver medals from FIBA World Cup in 2002 and 2019. Moreover, Scola won two gold (2001 and 2011), four silver (2003, 2007, 2015, 2017), and three bronze (1999, 2009, 2013) medals in FIBA AmeriCup tournaments.

Finally, Scola also won the gold medal in Pan American Games in 2019.
