One of the most exciting EuroLeague rookies of the upcoming season, Shabazz Napier, has suffered an injury during Zenit St. Petersburg's last pre-season game against CSKA Moscow on September 19.

Zenit's GM released a statement today, saying that Napier underwent a medical examination. While there is no fracture on his ankle, the injury is quite severe, and the recovery time is unknown.
"He has a rather serious injury to the ligaments of the right ankle joint. On the positive side, I can say that there is no fracture and, therefore, there is no need for surgery. Of the minuses, the recovery time is still unknown. We have all the necessary conditions to get him back on the floor quickly. All is needed is the support of the fans."
Napier's injury comes as a real disappointment for Zenit fans as Napier was seen as one of the leaders for the team. One day before the accident occurred, the Puerto Rican dropped 33 points against UNICS Kazan.
The 30-year-old averaged 10.3 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in the 2019-20 campaign with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Washington Wizards.
