After being involved in a trade revolving around DeAndre Jordan that sent Jahlil Okafor from Detroit to Brooklyn, the Nets waived the Nigerian big man. However, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Okafor will be given a chance by the Atlanta Hawks and sign a non-guaranteed contract.

25-year-old Okafor was drafted third overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2015. He has averaged 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds over six seasons with four different teams: the Pistons (2020-21), the New Orleans Pelicans (2018-20), the Nets (2017-18) and the 76ers (2015-17).
Okafor represented Nigeria at the Tokyo Olympics, averaging 9.0 points (85.7% 2PT), 4.7 rebounds, 3.0 turnovers, and 8.7 PIR over 14.7 minutes.
