German center Maik Zirbes returns to Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade, the club announced today. Both sides have agreed to a one-year deal, with an option to extend the partnership for an additional season (1+1).

The 31-year-old spent last season in Dubai and represented Shabab Al Ahli. His last team in Europe was Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, which Zirbes was a member of in the 2019-20 campaign.

Zirbes played for Crvena Zvezda from 2014 to 2016. He was also a member of the Red Star in the 2018-19 season.

During his career, the 2.08 m center also represented FC Bayern Munich, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, Brose Bamberg, and Gladiators Trier.

Zirbes averaged 5.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.9 PIR over 13.9 minutes in his last season with Cedevita in the Adriatic League.

The center had his best year in the EuroLeague in the 2015-16 season, when he wore the Crvena Zvezda jersey. Zirbes accumulated 12.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 14.3 PIR over 25.2 minutes that year.
