The writing has been on the wall for weeks regarding coach Kokoskov's future. The failure in the Pre-Olympic tournament in Belgrade was too difficult to accept and the federation decided to move on.

Kokoskov was appointed as head coach of Serbia in November of 2019 when he was still an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings. In July 2020, Koskov accepted the head coaching position at Fenerbahce to replace Zeljko Obradovic. Both positions came with added pressure and expectations and in the end, Kokoskov left both positions.

The Serbian federation hasn't announced who is going to replace Kokoskov but Svetislav Pesic appears to be the strongest candidate and the two sides have already had preliminary talks

Kokoskov has accepted a job as an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks and will work again with Luka Doncic, whom he already coached at the Slovenian NT.
