At the start of the Paris European Games tournamentALBA Berlin defeated LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne 71-62 (17-23, 18-18, 25-5, 11-16).

ASVEL came out strong from the first minute, they organized a 7-0 run but ALBA answered with 2 threes in a row. Later in the first, the French club relied on two-point shots, as they made 7 of 8 (88%). These twos let ASVEL finish the quarter being in front by 6 points (23-17).

In the second period, ALBA managed to cut the deficit to just 2 points thanks to Lo, Zoosman, and Thiemann (28-26). On the other side, Lighty accelerated ASVEL's offense and let his team increase the margin to 7 points again (37-30). After that, both teams exchanged successful attacks. The quarter ended with Osetkowski's unsportsmanlike foul but ALBA got only 1 point from a favorable situation. ASVEL led the way by 6 points after 20 minutes (41-35).

The German squad started the second half with great intensity on both ends of the floor.  They were raining long-distance shots. Eriksson, Lo, Sikma drained 4 threes in a row, as ALBA organized a 16-0 spurt. After the third quarter, Gonzalez's men were winning by 14 (60-46).

In the decisive quarter, ASVEL pushed hard and arranged a 7-0 run (60-53). They left ALBA Berlin without points in the first 5 minutes of the fourth period. However, ALBA stabilized the game and got a victory.
