CSKA Moscow opened their Gloria Cup showcase by having their revenge on Zenit St. Petersburg 75-64 (13-10, 26-14, 16-22, 20-18) after being crushed by them five days ago.

Both teams started the game really slowly and barely cracked double-digits, with CSKA having a three-point lead after the first quarter (13-10).

CSKA went on a 13-point run to start the second period and doubled Zenit's score (26-13). They controlled the rest of the quarter and were up big going into halftime (39-24).

The Red Army's advantage continued to balloon and reached 21 at one point during the third period (50-29). However, Zenit weathered the storm and managed to cut their deficit to single-digits going into the final quarter (55-46).

However, CSKA regained momentum in the fourth and were once again up by 18, squashing Zenit's hopes for victory. They won by 11 and delivered Zenit their first pre-season loss on coach Xavi Pascual's birthday.
