The Royal club has its roster outlined for the 2021-22 campaign in place, except for one last unknown: will Jaycee Carroll continue with the team? The 38-year-old veteran has had a renewal offer on the table for months but is yet to respond.
Seems that Pablo Laso will start the season without one of the best sharpshooters of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague in recent years. Mundo Deportivo reports that the American shooting guard has been flirting with the retirement idea for a long time so that he can dedicate more of his time to the ranch in Utah. Carroll and his wife Baylee have another project in the works - raising Wagyu, a Japanese cattle breed.
However, the player believes that he still has quality basketball left in the tank and, thus, is hesitant between going into retirement or extending his career for another year. He has already been wrestling a similar dilemma a year ago. Now the family pressure is greater for Carroll to stay permanently in the United States. Although, the deadly sniper would like to be able to say goodbye to Real Madrid by playing one last year with fans in the stands.
Last season the veteran guard averaged 9.4 points (63.3% 2PT, 40.7% 3PT) in 31 EuroLeague games.
Jaycee Carroll has been a member of Real since 2011. With the whites, he became a two-time EuroLeague champion (2015, 2018) and a five-time ACB League winner. He has a career average of 42.1% (437/1038) accuracy from deep in 274 EuroLeague contests.
