Coach Sarunas Jasikevicius has developed some strong ties with the club that he has been coaching since 2020 and that also won him the first EuroLeague of his playing career, FC Barcelona.

In an interview with Mark Mundet for Catalan network RAC1, the Lithuanian boss of the "Blaugrana" referred to Lionel Messi's departure from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, revealing that it caught him by surprise.

"The farewell of Messi has been a shock to me. As a member of Barça and a great fan of soccer, it will be very strange to see him in another jersey. It is very sad. All the members of the club share the same feeling," Saras said.

He also repeated once again that this year's roster has been built without Pau Gasol in mind: "I'm focused on working with what I have and I am not thinking about Pau Gasol right now. If he turns up later, we will have to assess it."

Asked about his relationship with the new president Juan Laport, he commented: "I have a good relationship with president Laporta. We are in the process of getting ourselves acquainted with the entire Board of Directors. I feel their support and I'm very happy to be here."
