EuroLeague runner-ups have officially announced the acquisition of the American forward. The deal is for the upcoming season.

A contract reunites Hayes with current Barca bench boss Jasikevicius who coached the 26-year-old (2.03) in Zalgiris Kaunas two seasons ago.

Hayes responds to the player profile sought by FC Barcelona since he can play both 3 and 4. Thus he will mitigate the exits of Adam Hanga and Victor Claver. His arrival prevents the signing of former Real Madrid player Gabriel Deck, who was also on the agenda, but whose arrival at Palau Blaugrana was very complex.

Last season in the EuroLeague, Nigel Hayes averaged 9.5 points and 3.9 rebounds, while shooting 44,3% from 3-point range. He helped Zalgiris Kaunas to a 17-17 record in the EuroLeague and a first-place finish in the domestic league.

Previously Hayes has been rumored to draw interest from UNICS Kazan, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, and the EuroLeague newcomers AS Monaco. He has also worked out for the NBA's Boston Celtics and reportedly made a good impression.

The American forward has little NBA experience after playing nine games in the 2017-18 season between the Lakers, Raptors, and Kings. His NBA averages are 3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.7 assists.
