With the exception of a small break in 2011, Danilo Gallinari has been away from Italy since 2008. While his father Vittorio had a decorated stint with AX Armani Exchange Milan, the now 33-year-old Danilo found success on the other side of the ocean, playing with 5 NBA franchises up to now.

As a player of the Atlanta Hawks since 2020, the Italian international spoke to "Corriere della Sera" about his future, which will continue to be in the NBA, and declared once again his love for the "red and white" jersey.

Referring to the 2020-21 season with the Hawks, he appeared more than satisfied with his team's output: "We shocked the NBA, having arrived close to the title. I believe that I will win an NBA ring, it's a challenge for me. Of course, it's getting more difficult."

"I have a contract (20 million dollars a year for two more seasons), but in the NBA you are never sure of anything. I have learned, I know from experience now, that anything can happen", Gallinari said on his future.

Asked about choosing to play in the NBA, he admitted to having "no regrets. Of course, my time with Armani Milan comes to mind. I look at my father's trophies, I imagine how much I would have won in Italy and Europe with the team I love: this is also a dream".

He also admitted that ending his playing term with his beloved team "would be the prestigious closure of a trajectory, of a career. But now is not the time. My father's wish? He's a big fan of Armani Milan, but he doesn't say it. My mother? I think she's also a fan, deep down."
