In an interview with the Italian sports newspaper 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', Italian NT head coach Meo Sacchetti talked about Paolo Banchero, one of the top prospects of the 2022 NBA Draft and a potential member of the Italian NT going forward.

"In the winter I'll go to the USA to follow him closely", coach Sacchetti said during the interview. "He's very strong physically but he's still not a typical center because he hasn't much of a game in the post. At Duke, he can definitely develop that aspect of his game. He's only 18-years-old, he has a lot of time to improve. I don't think I'll be able to call him up during the in-season windows but at the first opportunity, he'll be a part of the squad. I'm really curious to see him on the court with us".

Banchero, who was born in Seattle, has received an Italian passport thanks to his family's Italian roots but according to FIBA, he'll be considered as a 'naturalized' player. So if Italy will decide to call him up for a competition, they won't be able to call other 'naturalized' players because FIBA rules allow only one player with that status.
