The debut of 3x3 basketball in the Olympic Games has drawn significant interest among the world's most powerful people. French President Emmanuel Macron and U.S. first lady Jill Biden watched a women's match between France and the USA.

Team USA upset Team France 17-10, which is the No. 1 ranked team in the world.

Stefanie Dolson, who played for the Chicago Sky in the 2021 season, led the Americans with seven points. Marie-Eve Paget and Mamignan Toure scored three points each for France.

According to Reuters, Macron sat in the third row courtside, wearing a tie but no jacket on a steamy evening. Both Macron and Biden wore face masks and, after a brief greeting, the first lady sat one row behind him in accordance with social distancing norms.

Despite his countrywomen's loss, Macron was amazed by the 3x3 brand of basketball. "10 minutes of non-stop action was stunning," marveled French President.
